Special-effects artist Rollie Tyler takes a Justice Department job to fake the public assassination of a mob witness, then finds himself targeted once the setup is complete. Bryan Brown is Rollie, a movie craftsman who turns squibs, masks, disguises, and stage tricks into survival tools as he moves through New York City. At the same time, Brian Dennehy’s skeptical NYPD detective starts tugging at the story from the police side. The setup folds witness-protection politics, corrupt officials, and manhunt mechanics into a chase built around practical effects and deception.
