Sgt. Bilko

Comedy94 min

In a U.S. Army unit that can barely march in step, Steve Martin is Sgt. Ernie Bilko, a wheeler-dealer sergeant more interested in gambling and dodging responsibility than training troops. He runs a shabby operation built on shortcuts, scams, and the loyalty of the sorriest soldiers on base. Trouble spikes when the post faces a shutdown and Major Thorn (Phil Hartman), a by-the-book rival, gets the opening he needs to go after Bilko's reputation. Dan Aykroyd and Glenne Headly are part of the ensemble around Bilko as he tries to scheme his way out of a mess of his own making.
