Richard Basehart is Larry Nelson, a man paroled after serving nearly half of a 30-year sentence who wants nothing more than to stay out of trouble. He takes a quiet job at a country sanitarium, hoping distance and routine will keep the law at arm’s length. Instead, he becomes entangled with nurse Charlotte Maynard (Marilyn Maxwell), a woman whose interest in money turns his fresh start into something far less simple. Set around parole, temptation, and second chances, the story mixes prison-shadowed crime with uneasy romance as Larry tries to hold onto the life he’s only just gotten back.
