The Ruins
ActionAdventureHorrorThriller94 min
On a holiday in Mexico, two young couples follow a fellow tourist into the jungle to visit an archaeological dig and wind up stranded atop a ruin they can’t leave. Amy (Jena Malone) and Jeff (Jonathan Tucker) are part of the group, which arrives from Cancun expecting a day trip and finds an isolated site surrounded by armed locals and an aggressive vine growth spreading through the stones. Carter Smith’s 2008 film turns a backpacker detour into a survival story built around heat, injury, and a landscape that won’t stay still.
