The Boxer
DramaRomance114 min
Fourteen years after being imprisoned for I.R.A. activity in Belfast, Daniel Day-Lewis is Danny Flynn, a former boxer returning to his old working-class neighborhood to start over. He wants a life outside political violence and back inside the ring, but home is still shaped by old loyalties and simmering tensions. Emily Watson's Maggie, the teenage girlfriend he left behind, is still part of the same fraught world he thought he'd escaped. Reconnecting with her pulls Danny into the pressures of family, street politics, and a city where private choices rarely stay private.
