Rodney Copperbottom is a young inventor robot who travels to Robot City hoping to join Bigweld Industries, only to find the company taken over by Ratchet, a ruthless executive who sees older robots as obsolete. Ewan McGregor voices Rodney as his plans collide with a corporate scheme that threatens him and the friends he makes in the city. With Robin Williams and Halle Berry in the ensemble, the film imagines a mechanical world of towering factories, spare-part neighborhoods, and gadget-heavy contraptions as Rodney tries to keep invention — and individuality — from being pushed aside.
