Truth

DocumentaryDramaThriller125 min

In the middle of the 2004 U.S. election, CBS producer Mary Mapes thinks she and anchor Dan Rather have landed a major story about President George W. Bush’s military service. Cate Blanchett is Mapes, a veteran journalist driving the report to air, while Robert Redford’s Rather is the public face of the broadcast and her closest ally inside the newsroom. When sources start shifting and the documents behind the segment are challenged, the story turns inward, tracing how a high-profile investigation unravels under scrutiny and how quickly a national scoop can become a crisis for the people who reported it.
