During a riot in 1971 Belfast, a young British soldier is accidentally abandoned by his unit and forced to find his way back to safety through the chaos of the Troubles. Jack O'Connell is the isolated recruit at the center, moving through back streets, barricades, and sudden bursts of violence as the city fractures around him. Sean Harris and Barry Keoghan are among the figures he encounters along the way, from fellow soldiers to locals caught up in the conflict. The film keeps close to one man trying to survive a night in a place where every corner feels uncertain.
