Simon Baker is Travis, a jaded detective who arrives in a remote Australian outback town to reopen the 20-year-old murder of Charlotte Hayes, a local Indigenous girl. The case has gone cold, and Travis meets suspicion from both the town and Charlotte’s family as he starts revisiting old evidence and old grievances. With Rob Collins and Natasha Wanganeen among the people around the investigation, the film keeps close to a place shaped by mining, isolation, and strained relations with police. Shot in crisp black and white, its outback roads and cave-like dwellings give the town a stark, alien edge.
