Jockey Halis Karataş rises from the back of the pack with Bold Pilot, the racehorse whose late surges make him a sensation in mid-1990s Turkey. Ekin Koç is Karataş, and Farah Zeynep Abdullah joins him in a story that links the track to a romance and to a country worn down by political instability, inflation, and a growing sense of hopelessness. As horse and rider keep finding a way to the finish line first, their bond with the public grows, turning each race into something bigger than a day at the track.
