The Love Eterne

The story

In fourth-century China, a young woman persuades her parents to let her pass as a boy so she can attend university, stepping into a world closed to her unless she hides who she is. Her disguise opens the way to study, but it also complicates the ties she forms there, turning the story toward romance as identity and duty begin to collide. Drawn as a dreamy historical tale, the film follows the freedom she finds in male dress and the strain of keeping that freedom secret within a rigid social order.
