In the fictional Cornish seaside village of Portwenn, Dr. Martin Ellingham’s medical work ties him to every corner of local life. Martin Clunes is Dr. Martin Ellingham, with Caroline Catz and Ian McNeice among the regulars in his orbit. As patients, neighbors, and village business keep colliding, the series follows the daily complications that come with being the doctor in a place where everyone’s lives overlap. Portwenn’s harbor-town setting gives the show its shape, with coastal Cornwall as the backdrop for its mix of medicine, awkward encounters, and community routine.
