Hollywood action star Nick Lang arranges a ride-along with a New York detective to sharpen his image and research a tougher role, then promptly turns the assignment into a problem. Michael J. Fox is Nick, a famous screen hero whose nonstop questions, vanity, and habit of imitating police work get under the skin of James Woods’s Lt. John Moss, already locked onto a serial-killer case. As Nick follows Moss through New York, the gap between movie-cop swagger and actual detective work keeps widening, with Moss trying to protect his investigation while his unwanted shadow studies every move.
