During a 1972 class trip to the White House, two high schoolers accidentally brush up against Watergate and end up hired to walk President Nixon’s dog. Kirsten Dunst and Michelle Williams are Betsy and Arlene, best friends whose accidental access makes them unlikely fixtures inside the West Wing. As Dan Hedaya’s Nixon starts treating the girls like trusted confidantes, staffers and operatives scramble around them trying to contain the growing scandal. The film recasts one of the most infamous episodes in American politics as a goofy, teen-led alternate history.
