SEELE orders an all-out attack on NERV, trying to wipe out the Evas before Gendo can push forward the Human Instrumentality Project. As headquarters falls under siege, Shinji is pushed past his breaking point, forced toward a decision that reaches beyond the battlefield. Megumi Ogata leads the voice cast alongside Yûko Miyamura, as the film folds mecha combat, body horror, and fractured visions into the apocalyptic collapse surrounding NERV.
