Approaching 30 in 1990 New York, aspiring theater composer Jon is waiting tables, writing songs, and counting down to a showcase that could change his future. Andrew Garfield is Jon, caught between the expectations of his girlfriend Susan (Alexandra Shipp), the example of his longtime friend Michael, and his own fear that time is running out. Directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the film tracks Jon through rehearsals, side jobs, and the daily pressure of trying to make something lasting while the people around him start choosing different paths.
