Turtles Can Fly
DramaWar98 min
Near the Turkey-Iraq border, a 13-year-old Kurdish refugee and the other children in his village clear landmines and wait for Saddam Hussein’s regime to fall as the American invasion of Iraq draws closer. Soran Ebrahim leads the young ensemble, with Avaz Latif among the children whose daily lives are shaped by village routines, rumors of soldiers, and the dangerous work around them. The film keeps its focus on a border community where war is not distant politics but the condition of childhood itself.
