Hamilton

DramaMusical160 min

Alexander Hamilton rises from immigrant outsider to a central figure in the American Revolution and the early republic in this filmed version of the original Broadway production. Lin-Manuel Miranda is Hamilton, with Leslie Odom Jr.’s Aaron Burr framing the story through rivalry, ambition, and uneasy alliance. Phillipa Soo appears as Eliza Hamilton, while Daveed Diggs moves from Marquis de Lafayette to Thomas Jefferson and Jonathan Groff turns up as King George. Shot on the Broadway stage and directed by Thomas Kail, the production keeps its theatrical staging front and center, with a score that threads hip-hop, R&B, jazz, and traditional show tunes through the founding era.
