Dick Van Dyke is television comedy writer Rob Petrie, balancing a busy writers' room with the problems that follow him home. In Carl Reiner's early-1960s series, Mary Tyler Moore shares the domestic side of Rob's life, while his days at work keep turning into comic jams with fellow writers Sally Rogers and Buddy Sorrell and producer Mel Cooley. The action shifts between home and office, where misunderstandings, bruised egos, and quick back-and-forth send Rob scrambling to keep up.
