Selma
Drama128 min
In 1965 Alabama, David Oyelowo is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., organizing the Selma-to-Montgomery marches as violent opposition and political delay turn a voting-rights campaign into a national confrontation. Carmen Ejogo's Coretta Scott King brings the strain of the movement into the family home, while Tom Wilkinson appears as President Lyndon B. Johnson, whose response becomes part of the battle. Directed by Ava DuVernay, the film follows the push to secure federal protection for Black voters as activists, clergy, and local residents face arrests, intimidation, and the threat of bloodshed on the road from Selma to Montgomery.
