DramaRomance117 min

In 1900 Alabama, Regina Giddens wants in on the cotton-mill deal her brothers are trying to land from a Chicago industrialist, and she’s prepared to use her own household as part of the bargain. Bette Davis is Regina, driving the family’s ambitions with a cool eye for money and leverage, while Herbert Marshall’s husband resists being folded into the scheme. As business merges with marriage and family loyalty becomes another thing to negotiate, the Giddens clan turns a Southern home into a battleground over power, inheritance, and control.
