Seymour is a meek clerk in a skid row flower shop who hopes his strange new plant will impress his co-worker Audrey and rescue the business from obscurity. Jonathan Haze's Seymour names the creation after Audrey (Jackie Joseph), but the plant soon starts talking — and demanding blood. Roger Corman builds the premise into a dark farce of bad luck, panic, and a shopkeeper in over his head, with Mel Welles adding another layer of pressure as Mr. Mushnik. Most of the action stays tucked inside the rundown florist, where wilted bouquets, cramped counters, and Audrey Junior's growing appetite take over the room.
