Garth Marenghi's Darkplace
ComedyMystery24 min per episode
Matthew Holness is Garth Marenghi, a grandiose horror author presenting a supposedly lost 1980s TV serial about Dr. Rick Dagless M.D., a Vietnam veteran and ex-warlock trying to seal the Hellmouth under Darkplace Hospital in Romford. Matt Berry's Dr. Lucien Sanchez and Alice Lowe's Liz Asher join Dagless as supernatural disasters break through the ward and everyday hospital admin keeps getting in the way. The comedy is built into the cheap effects, awkward edits, stilted performances, and overheated dialogue of a fake hospital-horror relic that keeps pushing its melodrama past the point of sense.
