During the first 40 days of the 2003 invasion of Iraq, an embedded Rolling Stone reporter moves with First Recon Battalion as the Marines spearhead the advance under shifting orders and often improvised command. Alexander Skarsgård is Sgt. Brad “Iceman” Colbert, a cool-headed team leader trying to keep his men focused as the mission keeps changing. Alongside him, Lee Tergesen’s Evan Wright observes the unit up close, catching the bravado, confusion, gallows humor, and sudden violence that define life inside the push toward Baghdad.
