As war closes in on 11th-century China, the Yang clan is the court’s last defense — and when the family’s last man falls in battle, its women step into armor and take command themselves. Cecilia Cheung and Liu Xiaoqing are part of a multi-generational Yang household that stretches from grandmother to younger sisters, all drawn into a campaign against invading forces and the corrupt officials who left their family exposed. Set in the Song Dynasty, the film turns the legend of the Yang generals toward the women who inherit the fight, with palace neglect, battlefield losses, and clan vengeance driving the story forward.
