In October 1991, the sword-fishing boat Andrea Gail leaves Gloucester, Massachusetts, for one last trip before three North Atlantic weather systems merge into a single storm. George Clooney leads the six-man crew, with Mark Wahlberg among the fishermen pushing farther out as forecasts worsen and warnings come too late. Back on shore, Diane Lane is among those waiting for word while the Andrea Gail is swallowed by rising seas, wind, and darkness. Drawn from the true story of the 1991 disaster, the film follows the crew from routine work on deck into a desperate struggle to get home.
