True Story

CrimeDramaMystery100 min

Disgraced New York Times reporter Michael Finkel is pulled into a stranger’s case when he learns that accused family killer Christian Longo had been living outside the U.S. under Finkel’s name. Jonah Hill is Finkel, chasing both a comeback and an explanation as he begins a series of prison meetings with Longo. Across from him, James Franco’s Longo is calm, elusive, and intent on telling his story on his own terms. Built around the uneasy connection between a journalist and the man who borrowed his identity, the film keeps its focus on interviews, doubt, and the pressure of competing versions of the truth.
