The Cable Guy

ComedyDramaThriller96 min

Recently single Steven Kovacs thinks he’s just getting cable installed in his new apartment. Instead, Matthew Broderick’s Steven becomes the fixation of Chip Douglas, an overeager installer shaped by a steady diet of television; Jim Carrey is Chip, all forced charm, constant calls, and increasingly intrusive ideas about friendship. When Steven tries to put some distance between them, Chip starts inserting himself into his job, his dating life, and his social circle, while hardly anyone believes how far it’s going. Leslie Mann appears as Steven’s girlfriend, and Ben Stiller’s film turns karaoke, medieval jousting, and sitcom-style bonding into a very uneasy feud.
