Seth, a guardian angel who moves unseen through Los Angeles, begins to question his place between heaven and Earth when he falls for heart surgeon Maggie Rice. Nicolas Cage is the watchful immortal, drawn to the city’s hospitals and the souls passing through them; Meg Ryan’s Maggie is a gifted doctor whose certainty wavers after a patient dies in the operating room.
