In 2058, the Robinson family leaves a dying Earth on a mission to colonize Alpha Prime, only to be thrown off course when a stowaway sabotages the launch. William Hurt is part of the family crew at the center of the expedition, opposite Gary Oldman’s Dr. Smith, whose interference sends their ship hurtling into uncharted space. Stranded far from their destination with their pilot, a robot and no clear way home, the Robinsons face alien dangers and the fallout from a mission that collapsed before it could begin.
