The Philadelphia Story
ComedyRomance113 min
On the eve of her second wedding, Philadelphia socialite Tracy Lord finds her carefully arranged plans thrown off by two disruptive arrivals: her ex-husband, C.K. Dexter Haven, and a tabloid reporter sent to cover the society event. Katharine Hepburn is Tracy, meeting every slight with cool wit as old grievances and new flirtations crowd the family estate. Cary Grant gives Dexter an amused, needling ease, while James Stewart's reporter starts out chasing a story and gets pulled into the household's tensions. Between drawing-room barbs, class friction, and a late-night turn by the swimming pool, the wedding week becomes a tangle of remarriage, self-knowledge, and public spectacle.
