Great Performances is an anthology devoted to filmed theater, concerts, opera, dance, and performance documentaries, bringing major stage work from the U.S. and abroad to television. Episodes can center on a Broadway production, a symphony, a ballet, or a music special built around a single artist or legacy. One installment, Patsy Cline: Walkin' After Midnight, gathers singers at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium to honor the country star, with Wynonna and Kristin Chenoweth among the featured voices. The series moves easily between classical music, popular song, and drama while keeping the focus on the performers and the work in front of an audience.
