Fredric March is a decorated flyer whose nerve begins to fray as losses mount, while Cary Grant’s fellow pilot carries himself by a very different code. The dogfights in the air are matched by exhaustion, guilt, and the pressure to keep flying, with the story focused as much on the squadron’s mental wear as on its combat missions.
