Side by Side

Documentary99 min

Since movies were first made on strips of celluloid, Side by Side follows the industry’s shift toward digital cameras, workflows, and projection. Keanu Reeves guides the conversations, sitting down with directors, cinematographers, editors, and effects artists to map what changed on set and in postproduction. Christopher Nolan and James Cameron come at the question from different angles, while figures like David Fincher, Martin Scorsese, and George Lucas weigh the artistic and practical stakes. The film stays close to the craft behind the image, from how movies are shot and edited to the debate over what cinema keeps and what it leaves behind in the digital era.
