Testament of Youth

DramaRomanceWar129 min

Alicia Vikander is Vera Brittain, an Oxford student whose plans for study and independence are upended by the First World War. As the conflict closes in on the people around her, Vera leaves Somerville College to work as a nurse, watching youthful ambitions and early romance give way to loss, remembrance, and a growing belief in pacifism. Taron Egerton and Colin Morgan are among the men in her circle sent into the war, while the film follows Vera from campus life into hospital wards and the long shadow the fighting casts over an entire generation.
