Former New Orleans Saints defensive back Steve Gleason is 34 when he’s diagnosed with ALS, then learns that his wife, Michel Varisco-Gleason, is expecting their first child. What begins as a video journal for his unborn son widens into a close record of a public figure facing a degenerative disease day by day. Drawing on Gleason’s own footage, family moments, hospital visits, and scenes from his work for other ALS patients, the film follows the changes in his body, his marriage, and the medical technology that helps him keep communicating and taking part in family life.
