The Confession Killer

CrimeDocumentary49 min per episode

In 1983, drifter Henry Lee Lucas begins confessing to murders across the United States, and his story quickly grows from a single case into a list of more than 200 killings. Investigators treat him as a serial murderer on a historic scale, clearing cases as Lucas supplies details that seem to fit. This series follows how those confessions spread through police departments and the press, and how the certainty around him starts to crack. As reporters, lawyers, and skeptics revisit the evidence, they find timelines that do not match, facts Lucas could not have known, and a justice system willing to accept answers that may be false.
