My Journey Through French Cinema

Documentary190 min

Bertrand Tavernier maps out his lifelong relationship with French cinema, moving from the films that seized his imagination as a boy to the people who shaped his own early career. Speaking as filmmaker, critic, and fan, Tavernier builds a personal history of his country’s movies through portraits of key creative figures and memories of the work that mattered to him. The film follows his path through directors, actors, writers, and collaborators, linking private enthusiasm with the broader story of French film culture and the traditions that informed his own start behind the camera.
