A child murderer has Los Angeles in a panic, and the police response grows so sweeping that it starts to interfere with the city’s ordinary criminal business. As the dragnet tightens, the underworld organizes its own hunt, turning the search into a clash between official authority and the hoods who want the killings stopped fast. David Wayne sits near the center of the citywide alarm, with Howard Da Silva and Martin Gabel among the many figures caught up in the widening chase. This 1951 American remake shifts Fritz Lang’s original story from Berlin to a noir-lit Los Angeles of raids, rumors, and public fear.
