Seethakaathi

The story

Vijay Sethupathi is a veteran theatre artist whose life is built around performance, and whose entry into the world of Tamil films brings his exacting sense of art into a very different industry. Seethakaathi follows the friction between stage-born craft and cinema’s machinery, asking what happens when a performer shaped by live audiences is absorbed into filmmaking. Directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan, the film keeps its focus on questions of artistry, ego, and survival inside the business of movies. Archana and Mouli are part of the ensemble around him as the story moves between the theatre world and the film set.
