Madhoo is Roja, a young woman from a village in Tamil Nadu whose arranged marriage to the educated, city-bred Rishi takes her far from home to Kashmir. When Rishi (Arvind Swamy) is kidnapped by militants during a secret assignment, Roja is left in unfamiliar territory, trying to navigate officials, language barriers, and a widening political crisis as she searches for him. Directed by Mani Ratnam, the film begins with the intimacy of a new marriage and quickly shifts into a story shaped by separation, urgency, and the clash between private lives and public conflict.
