Under the Tuscan Sun

ComedyDramaRomance113 min

After a painful divorce, San Francisco writer Frances Mayes heads to Italy on a trip meant to shake her out of a tailspin, then impulsively buys a crumbling villa in the Tuscan countryside. Diane Lane is Frances, trying to rebuild her days amid contractors, language barriers, and a stream of new acquaintances who pull her deeper into local life. Sandra Oh turns up as Frances’s sharp, supportive friend Patti, while Raoul Bova’s Marcello adds a romantic complication. Between the house renovation and Frances’s attempt to start over, the film follows a personal reset shaped by place, routine, and chance encounters.
