Larenz Tate is Anthony Curtis, a young man from the Bronx whose path runs from high school graduation to Vietnam and back home again, where jobs are scarce and the war still hangs over daily life. As he tries to support his family in 1970s New York, Anthony is pulled toward crime, reconnecting with fellow veterans and planning an armored-car robbery built around unmarked cash — the “dead presidents” of the title. Keith David and Chris Tucker are part of the circle around him as the film moves between coming-of-age memories, battlefield trauma, and the pressure closing in at home.
