Seance on a Wet Afternoon

CrimeDramaThriller111 min

Working-class British housewife Myra Savage has remade herself as a medium, conducting séances in her sitting room while her husband quietly helps from the next room. Kim Stanley is Myra, whose hunger for recognition pushes her toward a reckless scheme: she pressures Billy (Richard Attenborough), her under-employed, asthmatic husband, into kidnapping a wealthy couple’s young daughter so Myra can appear to guide the police to the child. As the plan unfolds, the story stays close to Myra’s brittle conviction, turning a domestic parlour act into a crime built on performance, deception, and the possibility of something she may not fully control.
