Gangster Squad

ActionAdventureCrimeDramaThriller113 min

In 1949 Los Angeles, mob boss Mickey Cohen has the city wired, with police, politicians, and hired muscle protecting an empire built on gambling, drugs, and violence. Sean Penn’s Cohen draws the attention of Sgt. John O’Mara, and Josh Brolin is the determined LAPD officer who puts together a secret, off-the-books crew to strike back. Ryan Gosling’s Jerry Wooters joins the squad as they try to dismantle Cohen’s hold on the city from the shadows. The film moves through nightclubs, back rooms, and bullet-riddled streets as lawmen and gangsters fight over who will control postwar Los Angeles.
