The Swimmers
Drama134 min
As civil war closes in on their home in Syria, two young sisters leave everything behind and begin a dangerous journey toward Europe, carrying with them the one thing they know best: swimming. Real-life sisters Nathalie and Manal Issa lead the film as the pair move through border crossings and refugee uncertainty while one sister’s path stretches all the way to the 2016 Rio Olympics. Ahmed Malek and Matthias Schweighofer appear among the people they encounter as the story follows a true-life route shaped by displacement, endurance, and the discipline that keeps them moving forward.
