In Victorian London, a parlour maid begins to suspect that the gentleman she works for may have murdered his first wife. Jean Simmons is the servant whose discovery puts her in close, uneasy orbit around Stewart Granger’s polished widower, a man whose manners and position hide something darker inside the house. What starts as private suspicion shifts the balance between servant and master, turning the household into a contest of secrets, fear, and control.
