Laura

DramaMystery88 min

Detective Mark McPherson (Dana Andrews) is pulled into Manhattan high society when ad executive Laura Hunt is found murdered in her apartment, and the case grows stranger the more he learns about the woman at its center. Gene Tierney is Laura, known at first through a portrait, a polished reputation, and the conflicting memories of the people around her. Chief among them is Clifton Webb’s columnist Waldo Lydecker, whose wit and possessiveness hang over every interview. As McPherson sorts through jealousy, privilege, and carefully managed appearances, the investigation begins to blur into his own fixation with the dead woman he never met.
