A Dog's Will

AdventureComedyDramaFantasyRomanceWestern104 min

In Northeastern Brazil’s backlands, João Grilo (Matheus Nachtergaele) and Selton Mello’s Chicó are broke schemers who get by on fast talk, small cons and whatever advantage they can find in town. Their hustles pull in priests, merchants and local authority figures, turning everyday survival into a chain of comic deceptions. When their luck runs out, the story shifts into the supernatural, bringing the pair before a celestial judgment where Christ, the Devil and the Virgin Mary weigh their case. Folk humor, religious imagery and the rhythms of village life run side by side through the film.
