Phoebe-Rae Taylor is Melody Brooks, a sixth grader with cerebral palsy whose quick wit and sharp mind are overlooked because she is non-verbal and uses a wheelchair. At school, she’s shut out of the same opportunities given to her classmates until a young educator recognizes what others have missed and helps bring Melody into mainstream education. As that change opens new doors, Melody has to face classmates, assumptions, and a school system that has rarely made room for what she wants to say. Rosemarie DeWitt, Luke Kirby, and Judith Light are among the adults in Melody’s orbit.
